About Midnight Integrated Systems

By the time the 2012 Olympic Games finish, MiS will be celebrating 25 years of business. Founded in 1987 by Chris Wood and Dennis Sumner, the company continues to stay at the leading edge of technology in security, communications and home automation.

The company set our as Midnight Security & Communication back in 1987 but changed its name to Midnight Integrated Systems (MiS) in 2008, reflecting the company's broadening activities. Although the directors background had been in telecommunications (data & voice), it was the electronic security that developed quickly in the initial years – intruder alarms, door entry, access control, CCTV etc. Structured cabling and telephone systems were always part of the company's portfolio and were often included in a specific contract alongside the security systems.

A logical step made by the company in 1998 was to incorporate lighting control and audio visual systems into its portfolio making the company a one-stop shop for specialist system for individual homes and multi-dwelling projects. MiS became one of the few companies around that could take on large high end projects where communal systems were required for the development as well as audio visual, Lutron lighting control and Crestron touch screen control systems for each apartment. Trevor Square, Knightsbridge, Montrose Place, Belgravia and Embassy Court, St John's Wood are examples of such projects.

Although the company has developed in terms of product portfolio for the high end residential market, it has grown significantly in the traditional security market providing intruder alarms, CCTV and access control to commercial and public orgaisations (schools, hospitals etc). We are particularly proud to have installed systems for leading property developers – Land Securities, Grosvenor Estates and British Land. We continue to maintain Land Securities HQ systems at 5 Strand since the original installation in 1992.

A significant contract was awarded to MiS in 2006 (£1m +) for the Kent Schools project (ICT and Security Systems). The project was considered as a forerunner to the massive BSF (Building Schools for the Future) programme. We successfully completed the six schools within this project and in addition have undertaken further similar work in six more schools. Despite the BSF cut-backs made by the Conservative government, MiS have ongoing work in several more schools over the next 18 months or so.
